Hollywood returns to the Jersey Shore October, 2009. The second annual Downbeach Film Festival will be held Friday, October 16th through Sunday, October 18th. The Downbeach Flim Festival was created to promote new films, showcase filmmakers and celebrate the art of filmmaking. In its premiere year, the festival attracted filmmaker, Kevin Smith, as Lifesaver Honoree. Also honored was character actor, William Forsythe, who received the Chameleon Award. Actors William Katt and Courtney Gains The Man From Earth, Explicit Ills, Phoebe in Wonderland with Felicity Huffman and iMurders. Most of the attendees raved about the festival. Forsythe, Katt, Gains and others look forward to returning this year. Robbie Bryan, writer and director of iMurders summed it up best: "I've been to many film festivals, and for a first year event, the Downbeach Film Festival is way ahead of the curve." An opening night reception and film preview will kick off the festival, followed by two full days of fival features and shorts, workshops in filmmaking and screenwriting. The event commences with an awards presentation on Sunday night. This year, we'll honor a screenwriter as well as the Lifesaver and Chameleon Awards We look forward to welcoming filmakers and screenwriters to the 2009 Downbeach Film Festival.
